Crofton Kids In Nutcracker Ballet
December 8th, 2007 Categories: Events
It’s that season again… dancing snowflakes, a dashing prince, colorfully costumed nutcrackers, and Tchaikovsky’s majestic music. The Nutcracker remains one of the world’s most beloved ballets during the holiday season, whether it is performed on-stage by the American Ballet Theatre at the Kennedy Center or by one of the local ballet companies.
Crofton area residents Lina Kasaitis, Roman Mykyta, Dyson Jian, Emily Quinn, and Natalia Velarde are performing in the National Ballet 2007 production of The Nutcracker at Bowie Performing Arts Center (next to Bowie Senior High School) December 8 and 9 and 14–21. Evigenia Signur, a graduate of the Bolshoi Ballet School and Bat Erdene Udval, an inductee in the Hall of Fame for Great Russian Male Dancers, will be performing the lead roles. Additionally, a “Young Audience Production” will be performed at Hallam Theatre on the Prince Georges Community College campus in Largo. You can purchase tickets online for all performances.
Maryland Ballet Theatre offers three more performances of The Nutcracker this weekend, after opening last weekend at Northeast High School in Pasadena. You can purchase tickets online for these performances, as well.
Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts announces performances December 8, 9 and 16 by Ballet Theatre of Maryland on the Main Stage, with their popular “Sugar Plum Party” following the Sunday performances. Purchase tickets online to assure you won’t be turned away at the door.
Look for Crofton area kids in both the Maryland Ballet Theatre and Ballet Theatre land productions. Unfortunately, I don’t have their names. (If anyone will provide the names, I’ll be happy to edit this post to add them.)
Tickets are sold out for the American Ballet Theatre production at The Kennedy Center, December 18–23 and the Moscow Ballet performances at Lyric Opera House in Baltimore, December 19–22. Check with Ticketmaster to determine if any tickets are available for the Washington Ballet performance of The Nutcracker at Warner Theatre, December 8–23.
