Choosing a Crofton Real Estate Agent is EASIER in ‘08
January 2nd, 2008 Categories: Crofton Real Estate
Crofton MD Real Estate –
Choosing a real estate agent is a lot easier than it was a year ago. There’s a new criteria, and not many Crofton agents qualify.
TECH-SAVVY is now just as important as any qualifications you looked for in a Crofton real estate agent a year ago! And you have a totally objective resource for determining just how tech-savvy a real estate agent is - the Internet.
Start by identifying Crofton Realtors who are knowledgeable, successful, and experienced - the “old” criteria for choosing an agent. Then enter each agent’s name in any search engine (google, yahoo, msn) to determine the extent of their Internet presence. After all, that’s where most buyers are starting their home search, these days. (At the risk of stating the obvious, you’re reading this on the Internet, aren’t you?)
If the only result of your search is the agent’s page on their company website or Realtor.com, keep looking. You want a Crofton agent with a real estate blog and a personal website. That’s the “new” criteria for choosing an agent.
Here’s why: Viewing a real estate agent’s personal website and blog is better than any personal interview. You will be able to determine their philosophy, their priorities, their knowledge of real estate in general and your market in particular - even their style - all without the distraction of salesmanship and personal charm. After all, you’re looking for an effective real estate professional who will get results for you, not a new best friend. If you choose an agent who doesn’t maximize technology in selling your home, it’s kinda like going shopping without your wallet.
Try it! Enter the name of agents who were “real estate stars” in your area just a year or two ago. Now they may be “has-beens”, if they don’t have technology in their real estate toolbox. I know you want a real estate agent who is the best qualified TODAY, in 2008 - and that means they satisfy BOTH the “old” and “new” criteria for choosing a Crofton real estate agent:
A tech-savvy real estate agent who is knowledgeable, successful and experienced in real estate and your market.

Cyndee, thank you! I look forward to your participation in the February/Florida event, and hope we have a lot of interest from Crofton folks. We have always had a fair number of snow-birds in Crofton, but I’m not aware of any previous effort to make Florida real estate easy for them to learn about.
Excellent article Margaret. I think a solid internet presence is crucial and I often use my blog which is also my website as my resume.
