Crofton residents who do a lot of online shopping are probably going to like the new BUYSAFE Shopping Advisor because of all the added security it brings to your online purchases.
And, if you don’t do a lot of online shopping because you’re worried about fraud and identity theft, this may be the answer to your prayers. Chances are, it’s just what you need to provide the peace of mind you need to buy online!
I’ve been authorized to share with Focus on Crofton readers the free beta version of BUYSAFE SHOPPING ADVISOR. Here’s what you’ll get, when you do:
1. The “Safe Shopping Rating” is added to results of your favorite search engine (Google, Yahoo, MSN, eBay) so you will know which merchants to trust before you click on their link to make a purchase.
This rating is not something a merchant can buy – it is an objective evaluation based on BUYSAFE’S stringent criteria including the merchant’s use of valid SSL encryption, their published privacy policy and random BUYSAFE inspections of the merchants for any online security vulnerabilities.
2. The “BUYSAFE Portal” which takes you directly to listings of 3,000+ merchants that are actually bonded by BUYSAFE and their insurance underwriters Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and ACE. These merchants have voluntarily undergone an extremely tough qualifying process to determine their eligibility for bonding. You can’t get more secure than that!
3. The “BUYSAFE Guarantee” up to $25,000 for any purchase you make from a BUYSAFE bonded merchant (the ones you find in the “Buysafe Portal”). Surely that’s enough to cover anything you’re likely to buy online! The BUYSAFE bond kicks in if you never receive the item, if the item is a fake, and other circumstances you can read about on their website.
4. “ID Theft Protection” – This includes a comprehensive benefits package (Restoration services and expense reimbursement up to $10,000 with no deductible) if your identity gets stolen during the 30 days following a qualifying transaction.
