Crofton Woods Elementary will open on Tuesday, August 25, instead of Monday when other county schools open. Kindergarden students will begin classes on a staggered schedule starting Thursday, August 27, not Wednesday, when Kindergardeners at other schools begin. The school is one of eighteen throughout the county with delayed opening due to construction projects underway.
Yes, folks, it’s that time of year again, and lots of school news for the 2009–2010 school year is available now on the Anne Arundel County Public School website. Check it out for the school bus schedule (online for only 3 weeks) and frequently asked questions and eligibility guidelines for free/reduced price meals.
Students in grades 1–9 at other schools will head back on August 24, while high school students get one more day to enjoy summer before returning on August 25. Half-day Pre-K begins September 1. Teachers began their school year this week, joining new teachers whose orientation was August 10–12.
For most people without children in school, it means leaving 15 minutes earlier for work in the morning, due to extra traffic on the roads and delays caused by stopping for school buses and crossing guards. Don’t forget to adjust your schedule accordingly. The “easy” commuting days of summer are over!
