Crofton Village Garden Club Meets Today
September 2nd, 2009 Categories: Organizations
The Crofton Village Garden Club meets today, after a two-month summer hiatus.
The club’s theme this year is “Together We Can Make a Difference” and they have several projects lined up to do just that:
You’re probably familiar with the club’s 40–year tradition of decorating the front gates of “Old” Crofton and the Crofton Village Green for the holidays, and you may have seen the garden they planted last Spring at the Crofton Village Green with proceeds of an earlier Crofton Home and Garden Tour.
But they do a lot of things the community doesn’t see:
-
Make holiday wreathes with decorative bows for donation to the Crofton Library, CCA Town Hall and Crofton Schools.
-
Create over 100 floral arrangements at our November meeting for wounded veterans at the VA Rehabilitation and Extended Care Facility in Baltimore.
-
Collaborate with other garden clubs to decorate State Circle and Hammond Harwood House in Annapolis for the holidays.
-
Share their talents with residents of Crofton Convalescent Center by helping them make seasonal floral arrangements.
Helping local Girl Scouts earn the Native Plants Patch will be one of the club’s new projects this year. The other is promoting “Plant it Pink” – a partnership between National Garden Clubs, Inc. and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Watch for more information from Crofton Village Garden Club, including a Spring Fashion Show and High Tea at Crofton Country Club (open to the public), as they unfold throughout the year.
If you have an interest in gardening – as a beginner or master gardener or anywhere in between – there are two garden clubs in Crofton for you to join. Crofton Greenery Garden Club meets in the evening and Crofton Village Garden Club meets on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 9:30 a.m. For more information, contact me and I’ll pass along your contact information to the appropriate club president.
